A brochure and identity for an AI and Humanity conference, run by Spark.

Brief

Create a brochure for an AI and Humanity conference, run by Spark, a forward-thinking non-profit organisation.

Outcome

The shifting balance of power between AI and Humanity is the idea I explored for this project — conveyed by balancing elements across a graphic device, pairing a human colour palette with mechanical elements, and using converging angles to represent where the abilities of AI and Humanity meet.

My role

Editorial design, branding, printed matter, art direction and motion graphics for the event.

Toolkit

Adobe Suite · Sketch · Flinto

01A brochure that unfolds the argument

As well as branded merchandise and digital advertising material, I created a set of posters to advertise the event. A flick through the brochure starts with the front cover, which aims to reflect the balance of power between AI and Humanity by balancing type across the line.

As the brochure is unfolded, information is teased out slowly — dramatic photography paired with all-caps type creates excitement, and once fully unfolded the reader can see the full programme, with a sense of calm achieved through light graphic elements and clear sans serif fonts. A short animation extended the same idea for digital advertising and on-screen display during the event, alongside branded merchandise including an Apple Wallet pass used as the event ticket.
